An abridged narrator's tale
Taisha is a strong, caring, passionate actor turned mama turned podcaster. This self-described "cheeseball," who has a tendency to speak in Hamilton lyrics, holds an MFA in Acting from The New School for Drama, and an Equity card waiting in the wings for her when she decides to return to the stage one day. A few credits include a National Tour with the Kennedy Center, an Off-Broadway appearance in a new work at the June Havoc Theatre, and a Best Actress in a Supporting Role nomination in a short film at the Madrid Film Festival.
Her favorite genres to read are children's and adult fiction, especially if they are centered around fantasy worlds, fairy tales, and magic. When she's not borrowing more children's books than her arms can carry from the local library, she'll be diving into non-fiction books around conscious parenting and badass women encouraging other badass women to be creative, authentic, and the best humans they can be. Oh, and sweet rom coms, she's a fan of those, too...and well, let's be honest, she's a sucker for romance of the erotic nature also (no kink shaming here).
And then there's podcasting. Let's explore that further.
During the pandemic she started a podcast (as one did back in those days). It was a parenting podcast about the lessons from the theatre for raising ourselves and our kids. Finding herself with a toddler and too many voices screaming at her on the whole parenting thing she had an epiphany. "Everything I need to know to raise my child I learned in drama school!" she realized.
Where did this thought come from? "Who knows where thoughts come from, they just appear," (thank you Empire Records). But in all seriousness, she had this life changing revelation after listening to an episode of Unruffled by Janet Lansbury, who used to be an actor (seriously, look her up, she was). Utilizing her skills from her professional acting experience and training..."wait for it, wait for it, wait"...MFA: The Parenting Edition podcast was born.
After three seasons, one huge family move across many state lines, and four bathrooms to clean in her new home later, she felt it was time to put that project to the side...and pick up another podcast. She is currently the host and producer for Spanish Sin Pena's podcast, a show for people who connect with Spanish but struggle speaking it. Now this Nuyorican is on a mission to finally learn Spanish and uplift all those in the Latine community that don't speak the language fluently either.
"What did I miss?" Yes of course, her newest interest is gardening. She hopes to one day turn half her backyard into a garden oasis. So, let's raise a glass to her not killing her rosemary and cucumber plants again next year!
(Could you imagine how much longer an unabridged tale would've been?! Geez Louise and a bucket of cheese!)
