Back in the DAYI wanted to be in the TV when I was a toddler. More specifically, I wanted to be on Sesame Street with Grover (still a dream of mine). However, I was born into this world a very shy child with big dreams, and those don't always work well together. I grew up playing the clarinet from elementary school through high school and performing in things that didn't put me center stage but collaborating with a group, being part of an ensemble, hiding in the spotlight. Was I a marching band nerd? Yes, yes I was. And it was the best - especially this one time at band camp.... Moving on.
I didn't pursue acting until I went to college (Go Terps!) or dance for that matter. So my "official" performing arts training in theatre, dance, voice, etc didn't actually begin until I was literally an adult. I want to take this moment to raise a glass to all my late bloomers, my fellow adventurers who didn't spend their entire youth pursuing their dreams but chose to explore life and try when they were older. We are never too late to try something new and/or follow a dream. |

In the early 2000's I received my Equity card doing a TYA show with The Kennedy Center. After that tour playing a 10 year old girl on her own Alice in Wonderland style adventure, I did a few professional shows in DC and then moved to NYC for grad school at The New School for Drama. The world is wild because while in NY I got on eHarmony (yes, old school online dating, way before apps and swiping and all this jazz) and met a man whose cheesey weirdness complimented my cheesey weirdness and we now have a cheesey weird child and life is hilarious.
When my husband and I left NYC for south Florida shortly after we got married, I spent time pursuing film work more than theatre. Working nine hundred jobs, pursuing acting work and working out were how I spent my years there...and going to the beach obviously. And then we had a child.
After becoming a mom, I wasn't interested in auditioning. Our little munchkin required a lot from us. Her special medical health needs led us on a journey no parent imagines they'll walk when they sign up for parenthood but there we found ourselves in the most challenging experience of our lives. Everything else stopped for me. I stepped away from acting and eventually stumbled into podcasting (as it happened for so many of us during the pandemic). That audio work has propelled me towards audiobooks and well, right back where I belong - in the acting world!
This page is a little tribute to the work I did before as I continue me journey through motherhood, performing, following old dreams and creating new ones. Will I return to the stage and film work again? That's my dream and I hope to make it a reality again. And if it's not in the cards, it was fun while it lasted!
