The format might be a little bit truncated today. Because it's Thanksgiving. And well, by the time you listen to this, it'll be the day after Thanksgiving. But it is a little bonus Thanksgiving episode. It might be a little bit shorter a different format than we normally do. But I wanted to make sure I touched base with you guys since I said I would last week and the week was just getting away from me and I knew I needed to say something. Now. Angelica, can you say hello?

Well, I'm doing well. Also. Welcome to MFA, the parenting edition. I'm Taisha Cameron. These lessons from the theater for raising ourselves and our kids came about when I realized my MFA in acting trained me for life as a mommy better than life as a full time actor. Today's episode is about giving thanks. Yay. We'll explore some challenging questions. I'll share some stories and then we'll end our episode with the razor glass series. So without further ado, this is MFA.
"Come together right now over me."
Episode 16. Thank you.
Break a leg
Opening Night is full of excitement, nerves and anticipation. The entire ensemble and production team have been working for weeks to get to this moment, the moment the story makes its way to an audience. The audience is the final piece that makes theater a truly collaborative art. Now to show their appreciation for the work of their creative team. Actors generally will collect money from the ensemble to get a gift for the director and card or a small gift for the other people on the team. They'll also give each other gifts and cards to celebrate the opening of their production. These acts of kindness, say thank you for sharing your time, energy and creative gifts to make this production come together. It's such a simple gesture of gratitude. I wanted to take this opportunity, like actors do opening night, and in this episode to express my gratitude to all of you. I was looking at the stats for the podcast recently and I realized that there were like 750 downloads. Now I don't know how many listeners that actually equals and I don't know how many of those listeners have listened to every single episode. And that's fine. But it definitely means more than my mother and my mother in law and my husband are listening. So, I really wanted to take the moment to share my thanks to you for allowing me to be part of your world, I have known from the very beginning and starting this there are so many other options for you to choose. So the fact that you have tuned into this, even if it was once even if it was for half of an episode, or you've checked in regularly to see what is the other thing that I wanted to explore on my own parenthood journey; I truly appreciate it. It boggles my mind and it humbles my heart that there are people out there who appreciate what I'm trying to explore creatively and who are also on their own parenting journey. Maybe not all of them but I'm assuming since this is a parenting podcast, most people listening would be parents. I could be totally wrong and it's okay, if you are not a parent and you're tuning in, thank you and you are so welcome here and I hope that this brings some joy into your life.
A Short Story Before We Go
My Favorite Things
Scott and Angelica both sides of my family's Hogwarts and Hamilton all things that are Disney 90's pop music NSYNC I will sing these are a few of My Favorite Things. Paint nights with the ladies and sketchbooks for doodles, sausage with pesto all over my zoodles, Christmas movies that pull on my heartstrings. These are a few of my favorite things. Chocolate and red wine and big goblet glasses, reading and eating from Jelly Bean stashes, cuddles with doggies watching monkey's swing. These are a few of my favorite things. When my child bites, when she's all fight makes me feel so mad. I simply start singing out curse words, then things and then I don't feel so bad.
The Raise a Glass series is a space for reflection and gratitude centered around the topic of the day and inspired by lyrics from Hamilton the musical.
"The Lord in His kindness, he gives me what you always wanted, he gives me more time."
This has been a trying time for everyone. It's been a time of uncertainty. It's been a time of fear. But if we are here, and if we are breathing, and if we are blessed to be surrounded by people that we love, then the best thing we can do is to honor and cherish the time that we have. What we need to ask ourselves is what are we doing with our time.
Let's raise a glass to the time we have lived, the time we're living and the time we have left to live. We don't know how much that is. So let's not squander our time. But use it wisely. Share love, be compassionate and empathetic. Try to make this world better and bring a little bit of joy to people's lives. And if we can bring a lot of joy bring a lot of joy to people's lives.
That's all for today Guys and Dolls. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Next week when we come back, I will be a year older. That's right next week, I turned the big four zero Shut up. I can't believe I just admitted that. Ladies and gentlemen, this is 40 Ooh, can anyone remember which episode it was when I mentioned my birthday? Here's a clue. It had to do with the opening night of a play that was turned into a film starring the actor from the movie On the Waterfront (hint hint). Message me on Instagram when you figure it out. Next week, we'll come back with a full episode better sound quality and more fun lessons from the theater. I hope everyone had a wonderful safe Thanksgiving. Thank you. I love you. And I'll see you on the other side.
