Hi, welcome back to MFA the parenting edition. But that's not officially what's happening right now. This is more a pre season check in. I wanted to have the new episode of season two ready to roll out this Friday, January 22 2021. But there were a number of changes on my end, so I'll need a little more time to get that ready for you. To be perfectly honest, I've been a bit anxious, mostly excited, but a bit anxious about season two. What if it sucks? What if I lost all listeners from season one? Did I wait too long to put out another episode? Do I even know what the hell I want to talk about? All these thoughts have been floating in my head and I've needed to have a come to Jesus moment. On several occasions, I've sat and talked with him over a glass or two of wine.
Acceptance has been my biggest struggle. So I am leaning into accepting my internal changes because I feel they're important to honor so I can create the best show for you that I can right now. Last, season I never had a theme specifically. But as I revisited the episodes in preparing for the new ones, I did notice a pattern and topics and stories. That pattern, that theme revolved around choice. The choice to become parents and or artists the choice to critically examine our lives, so we can show up as the best parents possible for our kids. So, I realized that the ideas I wanted to touch on this season all revolved around change. This past year has been a trying time for like every single person in the entire world. The effects of an unseen attacker known as the COVID virus has dramatically changed the way the entire globe lives and interacts with other humans. Becoming a parent drastically changes our lives. A life in the arts is designed to challenge you at your core and change you. You'll then go about the journey of changing another soul through the work that you do. Here in the United States, today, we solidified the changing of our leaders and newly appointed government officials a dance we've done for over 200 years now. And within that changing of the guard is coming a change in the faces, we are seeing faces that look a lot more like the actual colors of America and the rest of the world. As a woman of color, I'm all about that. So what I plan to do with the start of a new season and brand new year in the Age of Aquarius I just had to I'm sorry, is given to the changes.
I've done a number of interviews with actor, director, teacher parents I know and wanted to add that new change into the show. No one is brought on as some expert in a particular topic, but more to give voice to their story and experience as artists raising families. And I'm curious to know what you think of the interview episodes and if it's something you'd like me to continue for the future of this podcast. Also in the solo storytelling episodes, I'll be diving into a few plays which are still being finalized. To further explore themes that are connected to family dynamics or the evolution of our spirit. I also really feel compelled to honor the changes that particularly happen on the motherhood journey. So I'll be looking at pregnancy and infancy in a few episodes. My goal is to touch on topics like gender, toddler life, loneliness, rejection, joy, disabilities, slash typical and atypical development, how to kill our ego or just at least make friends with it. Then whatever else seems to make sense for this season's theme of changes. And as always, all our topics will be seen through the lens of the theater, slash performing arts world because this show is about lessons from the theater for raising ourselves and our kids. I am officially stating right now that season two will kick off Friday, February fifth, so in two and a half weeks.
If there are topics you'd love to hear, and plays you'd love to explore on this podcast message me I'll leave my direct link in the show notes. And let me know what you think. While I leave to go make these wonderful episodes for you, I would appreciate if in return, you'd be so kind as to one, if you've listened to season one and haven't left a review yet, please follow the link in the show notes to leave a review and two, if you're finding this podcasts for the very first time. Take a listen to some previous episodes and then follow the link in the show notes to leave a review.
Thank you so much. I'm really looking forward to our journey together and I'll see you on the other side.
